D + D @ Salvage One Chicago

To say this past weekend's celebration of Diyanna + David was a photographer's dream is an understatement. Hosted at one of Chicago's most unique and incredibly bizarre venues, this wedding was capture after capture of gorgeous light and even more stunning love. Salvage One is tucked away, unassumingly in the warehouse district of Fulton Market, just beyond Chicago's West Loop. You'd walk right by this three story arsenal of antique decor, furniture and other 'salvaged' gems. Aside from the obvious delight of capturing all those incredibly cool details and vignettes of rippling light,  this couple was so wonderful to work with. Their love fueled our extended portrait session into an awesome, creative collaboration between Rose Photo + Soda Fountain Photo.

Whilst we are super, super proud of this set of imagery, it's most unique to share because I was able to step outside my own creative box. Diyanna + David gave us unrestrained freedom to make their portrait in and around the various and incredible backdrops that make up this wedding venue. That simple trust allowed me to shoot darker than I might normally, to find even more reflections and interesting light patterns. Opportunities to work with great people as such really allows my artistic bandwidth to stretch and grow. So much of this set reminds me of work I created through a photographic workshop with my mentor and dear friend, Parker J Pfister where he reminded me ( and still does) to do the work and get into gritty of portrait making. The night I was lucky enough to get gritty at Salvage One was so inspiring both in creating this work and feeling all the love, intention and good mojo that this couple's friends and family brought to the party.

D + D, you two are gems, sincerely wonderful gems. I'm thrilled, honored, so bless and completely obsessed with being a part of your celebration. Thank you for having me and I cannot wait to get the rest of this imagery out the gate.

love,

Rose + Co
