a lil tulle, a handsome husband and some rock & roll, too!

you remember that beautiful blond and that handsome tattoo artist that fell in love and now share both of their great style as a couple? no? oh, well I do!! I don't think I will be able to soon forget this sweet pair. we had an amazing portrait shoot prior to a lovely celebratory dinner they hosted with their nearest and dearest this past weekend. we started at the couple's west loop loft and moved about the neighborhood which hosts great street art, wonderful bocca light and even a perfectly placed, vintage set of wheels parked out front of our first stop. we toasted to the newly weds at the always sparkling Nelcotte. we then ventured into Chicago's Loop to visit one of my favorite buildings at 64 W. Monroe; The Montauk  Building. this gem of Chicago architecture dates back to 1882 when Burnham + Root created it. one of the best parts about this gorgeous brown stone, commercial building is it's nod to vintage wares. getting to know my couple's style helps inform my route of travel on portrait shoots.  much like this couple, I am a fan of the hats! small hats, big hats, bird caged hats...all of 'em! so naturally, I directed our shoot near the storefront at Optimo Hats where the shop boast a selection of great millinery, displayed perfectly in the Montauk's windows.

nikki + mike, you are two fine folks! I'm so thrilled to have had the chance to create a set of really beautiful photo memories of this occasion for you. I can't wait for the next set of images to be created and to see your love grown.
